The International Conference on Structures and Architecture is one of the largest knowledge exchange platforms of its kind. At the interface of architecture, engineering and construction and with the involvement of scholars, practitioners and teachers, it not only discusses the latest knowledge and methods of how we (re)build but also actively and responsibly contributes to a new sustainable building culture.

Audience

The conference gathers some 400 researchers and practitioners with a background in architecture and/or structural engineering. These include academics, researchers, students, architects, structural and construction engineers, landscape architects, other technical consultants, contractors, manufacturers, material suppliers, project managers, developers, contract administrators, asset managers, authorities and others. Placed in the middle of Antwerp’s old town, the event is widely visible and in front of the eyes of countless members of the architecture community at home and abroad through the website and social channels.

Programme

During the four days of the conference, the international participants will come together within different formats. In addition to the typical paper presentations in regular or special sessions, there will also be mini-symposia on cutting-edge research topics of the community. Furthermore, recent challenges of the local architecture community are discussed in parallel roundtable discussions with leading experts. There will also be tours to architectural highlights in the region. A special feature is the practically oriented conference section Critical Practices, to which an exhibition of large-scale models is connected.
